About Twin Mountain

The Twin Mountains are a pair of peaks near Liati Wote in the Afadzato South District of the Volta Region, in the Agumatsa Range along the Ghana–Togo border. They stand almost as high as Mount Afadja (Afadjato, 885 m), Ghana's highest mountain, and are described as a quieter, more demanding alternative for hikers who want to avoid the busier Afadjato trail. The site is treated as a mountain, hiking trail, viewpoint, nature and community tourism destination.

This is the most demanding hike in Liati Wote, with steep climbing throughout, and it is not recommended for children. Hikers are advised to be paired with one of the specially trained guides for this trail. New hiking trails to the two peaks were constructed, and climbing both peaks takes roughly 1 hour 50 minutes to 2 hours. On a clear day the twin peaks give sweeping views over Lake Volta, with Afadjato and Mount Aduadu visible in the background. The forested slopes are home to over 100 recorded butterfly species.

The hike begins at the same Tourist Reception Office as the other Liati Wote trails, where a waste bin is available; visitors are asked to bring a bin liner and carry their litter out. Liati Wote is noted as one of Ghana's cleanest villages. Nearby accommodation includes the Afadjato/Tagbo Community Guest House and Tagbo Falls Lodge.

No formal opening hours are published. Operator guidance is to start early morning for the best conditions and not to set out after 4pm, as it is dark by 6pm and the trail has no clear path in low light. Comfortable hiking shoes, drinking water and a walking stick are recommended. No wheelchair or step-free access information was found, and feature coordinates could not be confirmed from a structured source.
