Liati Wote is a small Ewe village in the Agumatsa Range of the Volta Region, and almost everything worth doing here begins with the mountains above it. The community-run Afadjato-Tagbo Eco-Tourism Reception Centre is the trailhead where guided hikes are arranged, whether you are climbing Mount Afadja (Afadjato), an 885 m peak reached on a 3 km summit trail of about one and a half to two hours, or continuing further to Aduadu Mountain at roughly 746 m. Tagbo Falls draws walkers along a forest path that crosses the sacred Tagbo River three times by bridge.

What ties these places together is that they are community-run and rooted in the same landscape of forest, farmland and peaks. Where they differ is in effort and mood. Twin Mountain offers a quieter, more demanding guided hike than the Afadjato trail, while Apollo Park at the foot of the mountain is a relaxed recreation and camping space. The Kweku Andoh Sustainability Institute is an off-grid learning campus, and the Clean & Green Hub, home to the Nuku Arts shop, turns recovered plastic into craft. Village and farm walks, Borborbor drumming and local cooking round things off.

Good to know

Before you go

Plan your hikes around daylight and arrange them through the reception centre, since the trails here are guided. Wear sturdy shoes for the Afadjato summit trail and the Tagbo Falls forest path, and carry water. If you want the Twin Mountain or Aduadu Mountain routes, ask about difficulty and timing before setting out. Check opening arrangements and guide availability ahead of your visit, especially for the sustainability institute and the craft hub, and bring cash for community-run activities. Combine a hike with a village walk, drumming session or cooking experience to see more of Liati Wote.
