About Afadjato-Tagbo Eco-Tourism Reception Centre
The Afadjato-Tagbo Eco-Tourism Reception Centre is the community-run visitor reception and trailhead for Liati-Wote, a village in the Afadzato South District of the Volta Region, near Ghana's border with Togo. It stands on the main road of the village at the base of Mount Afadja (Afadjato), and it is where visitors check in, meet guides and arrange hikes. Visit Ghana describes a pleasant visitors' centre on the left at the signpost as you enter the village, with a shaded porch used for meeting guides.
The centre is the practical starting point for the area's two best-known walks: the steep climb of Mount Afadja and the hike to Tagbo Falls, which passes through coffee and cocoa farms and semi-deciduous forest. Village tours, mushroom-farm visits and evening drumming and dancing are also arranged here. Because the centre is community-run, fees and arrangements are handled locally rather than through a national booking system.
Facilities are simple but functional. There are flush toilets, a six-unit rustic guesthouse with showers where mosquito nets, sheets and towels are provided, and camping at the visitor centre. Homestays can be arranged, and a community cook provides meals at an open-air building. Liquid refreshments are available in the village. The centre is listed as open from 8 am to 5 pm daily.

Liati-Wote observes strict traditional rules: noise-making is forbidden except at festivals, dogs are banned, and swimming beneath Tagbo Falls is prohibited. The Afadjato Festival is held every August.
Liati-Wote is about 24 km from Hohoe. From Accra, take the Tema-Hohoe Road and turn right at the police barrier at the Golokwati junction, drive 6 km, turn left on an untarred road at Liati Agbonyra, continue 4 km, then turn right at Liati Soba and drive 4 km to the visitor centre on the left. Trail fees are collected at the centre and payment is cash only, with no ATMs within roughly an hour's radius. Guides are not paid from trail fees, so a tip is customary.
