About Aduadu Mountain
Aduadu Mountain, also written Mount Aduadu, is a mountain in the Agumatsa Range in Ghana's Volta Region, standing at about 746 metres (2,448 ft). It lies near the villages of Gblede, Liati Wote and Wli, close to the Togo border, in Afadzato South District. Its coordinates are given as 7°01′08″N 0°34′16″E.
The mountain is best understood as a secondary hiking objective rather than a standalone destination. It is reached beyond the summit of Mount Afadja (885 m), whose trailhead is in Liati Wote, so most visitors encounter Aduadu only as a continuation of that walk. Graphic Online groups Aduadu Mountain with the Twin Mountain as among the "less spoken-about features in Liati-Wote... both of which offer captivating sceneries." The Volta Region tourism site notes that Afadjato and Mount Aduadu can be seen in the background from the Twin Mountains.
Anyone considering the extension should plan for rougher conditions than the main Afadjato trail. Chris Toone's hiking guide (April 2025) states that continuing past Mount Afadjato to Mount Aduadu requires bushwhacking lesser-frequented pathways, and that snakes and biting ants are not uncommon; the guide recommends long pants. This is a description of the route's character, not a substitute for your own judgement or local guidance.
On fees, no charge is published specifically for Aduadu Mountain. The same April 2025 guide lists a combined add-on fee to continue past Mount Afadjato to Mount Aduadu: GHS 70 (about USD 4.50) for Ghanaians and GHS 100 (about USD 6.50) for non-Ghanaians, on top of the Mount Afadjato trail fee of GHS 25 for Ghanaians and GHS 50 for non-Ghanaians. The tourism office accepts cash only. Treat these figures as dated to April 2025 and confirm current rates locally.
Note that published claims about Ghana's highest peak conflict: Wikipedia's article on Aduadu states the highest mountain in Ghana is Leklata at 900 m, while other sources give different figures. Visitors should expect limited signage and few facilities on this route.
