Dodi World Cruise

Dodi World is an aqua-tourism cruise operation on Lake Volta at Akosombo, in the Asuogyaman District of Ghana's Eastern Region. It runs from the banks of the lake near the Akosombo Hydro Electric Dam, and its flagship vessel is the MV Dodi Princess II, a three-deck, 150-capacity pleasure boat that sails to Dodi Island, an 84-hectare island in the lake. The operator describes the package as combining adventure, entertainment, history and education.

On board, the operator lists live band music, a bar on the middle deck, a wooden-floor upper deck used for the band, a passenger lounge available for events and banquets, and a children's recreation area known as the Dodi kiddi court. Water-based activities listed include jet ski, speed boat, pedal boat, kayak, water bicycles, island adventure and camping, with lifeguards and divers stated to be on site. A restaurant, event space rental and night events are also listed.

On Dodi Island, the operator lists an ostrich park, a bushbuck park, two large birdcages holding local and foreign birds, a kids' playground, video games and a camel ride. Visit Ghana adds that visitors are met with cultural music and traditional dances, that part of the rocky island is inhabited by roughly 300 people, and that the other half belongs to the Volta River Authority, which has created a park there. The same listing says the Dodi Princess II replaced the earlier Dodi Princess I, and that sailing views take in the Akosombo Dam, presidential chalets, Dwarfs' Island and a tilapia farm.

Scheduled cruises run every Saturday and Sunday and on all holidays, departing at 9:00 am and 3:00 pm with expected arrival back at 2:00 pm and 8:00 pm. Weekdays are given over to corporate retreats, conferences, parties, group excursions and charters, and night cruises are listed for the last Friday of each month. Akosombo is roughly a two-hour drive from Accra via Tema, Shai Hills and the Akosombo Road. The operator gives Dodi Island as 14.6 nautical miles from Akosombo, while its homepage separately describes the island as 5 kilometres off the lake shore — an unresolved inconsistency in the operator's own material. A booking-platform page for a five-hour Dodi cruise lists stroller and wheelchair accessibility, infant seats, service animals, and accessible surfaces and transportation; these are booking-platform attributes rather than an operator-published accessibility statement, so visitors with access needs should confirm directly.
