About The Royal Senchi Hotel and Resort

The Royal Senchi Hotel & Resort is a riverside resort on Senchi Ferry Road at Akosombo, in the Asuogyaman district of Ghana's Eastern Region. Its operator describes it as a four-star luxury resort, the first of that rating in Ghana, set on 35 acres of greenery with views over the Volta River. The property is roughly 1 hour 45 minutes from Kotoka International Airport by the operator's own estimate.

Accommodation runs to 84 rooms and suites, decorated in what the resort calls a "tribal-meets-elegance" style. The resort presents itself as a romantic destination and as a venue for business meetings, conferences and special events, so it functions as both a leisure stay and an events base.

On-site facilities are extensive: a restaurant, a bar and lounge, a poolside Nsu Bar, a main pool open to guests and day visitors, a kids pool with lifeguards, a spa and beauty salon, a fitness centre, a playground, tennis, basketball and volleyball courts, and a golf driving range and putting green with floodlit night driving. There is also a library and a helipad. The Picathartes Presidential Suite has its own pool and jacuzzi.

River activity centres on the Volta. An hour-long cruise runs aboard a 10-seater boat from the resort's private fleet, and kayaks, paddle boats and pedalos are complimentary to in-house guests. Senchi Island, a nature park, is used for birdwatching and picnics. The resort also runs curated tours to Akwamu Gorge, Cedi Bead Factory, Wli Waterfall, Mount Afadja, Tafi Atome Monkey Sanctuary, Dodi Island, Shai Hills and Bunso Arboretum.

Practical notes: the resort reports recruiting 70% of its workforce from the surrounding Asuogyaman district, and it has won Ghana's Leading Hotel awards at the World Travel Awards. Booking is available through the operator's online reservation system. Accessible rooms are reported by a third-party listing but not confirmed by the operator, and step-free details are unknown.
