About Paps Beach Camp

Paps Beach Camp is a locally owned beach camp and budget lodge on the beach at Agorkedzi, a small village in the Anloga District of Ghana's Volta Region, in the Keta lagoon area just across the estuary from Ada Foah. The camp was started in 2012 by a local owner known as Papa, who had previously worked as a guide at the nearby Meet Me There Lodge.

Accommodation is in beach huts built with local materials, decorated in a style visitors have described as clean and attractive, and sleeping two people. Guests can also sleep in a tent or a thatched hut. The camp has a lounge for hanging out, a restaurant and bar, and a small bar with one or two tables where guests order from a menu. A volleyball net is on site, and a turtle hatchery sits right next to the beach huts, with turtles coming ashore to lay eggs in front of the lodge.

The camp is off-grid. There is no mains electricity; solar panels provide light and phone charging. Washing is by bucket shower, and a 2022 visitor described a compost toilet on the beach and clean water to wash with. That same visitor called the place idyllic, with nice wooden cottages on the beach, primitive but clean, and reported reaching it only by boat, with the owner ferrying them to Ada Foah. A 2019 visitor reported the rate as 50 GHC per night for a beach hut sleeping two people.

Practical details are worth confirming before you travel. The camp is reached by boat, so onward arrangements matter. Contact details published by the operator are phone and WhatsApp 0546291000 and email [email protected]; a 2019 visitor account also listed an alternate number, 0508372717. Rates, boat transfers and current facilities should be checked directly, as the visitor accounts above date from 2019 and 2022.
