About Senya Beraku Fishing Harbour / Fish Landing Site
Senya Beraku Fishing Harbour, also described as a fish landing site, is a government-built artisanal fishing wharf at Senya Beraku, a coastal Guan town in the Awutu Senya District of the Central Region of Ghana. It forms part of a national programme of ten coastal fishing harbours and landing sites developed for artisanal marine canoe fishing, a list that also includes Moree, Mumford, Winneba, Gomoa Fetteh, Dixcove, Elmina, Teshie, James Town and Keta.
Ghana Ports & Harbours Authority lists Senya Beraku among the designated landing sites in the Central Region, alongside Otuam, Moree, Mumford, Winneba, Gomoa Fete and Elmina. The works were executed by China Harbour and Engineering Company and involved construction of a breakwater, a quay wall and dredging, together with ancillary facilities. Those ancillary facilities are cited as cold stores, ice-making plants, water supply, electricity supply and washing facilities.
The town sits on the coast with Winneba to its west and Gomoa Fetteh to its east, roughly 56 km west of Accra. Wikipedia gives town coordinates of 5°23′16″N 0°29′33″W; no verified coordinates for the harbour or landing site itself were obtained.
Completion has been reported at different stages. The Ministry of Finance's 2022 Mid-Year Fiscal Policy Review put the Senya Beraku landing site at 93% complete, while a community Facebook page later cited government figures of 97.64%. The site is described as functioning as a working canoe-fishing landing beach where artisanal fishing activity and boat launches can be observed.
Practical visitor information is limited. No official operator page, opening hours, entry fees or visitor amenities were found, and both the current construction status and public visitor access remain uncertain. Anyone planning to visit should treat those details as unconfirmed rather than assume the facility is open to the public.
