About Ezile Bay Beach

Ezile Bay Beach is a roughly 300 m stretch of sand on Ghana's western coast, set in the hollow of a small bay between the fishing villages of Akwidaa and Katakor, near Cape Three Points in Ahanta West Municipal, Western Region. The operator describes the beach as shaded by large almond trees and bounded by two rocky points that separate it from the two neighbouring villages, both reachable by trails. A peninsula blocks the offshore swell, which the operator and the beach guide Beachmeter both state makes swimming generally safe here.

The beach is the setting for Ezile Bay Ecolodge, built by local craftsmen in Fanti style using earth, bamboo and raffia. Accommodation ranges from beach bungalows with shower and toilet to double, triple and family rooms with a collective bathroom, a collective room for six, and camping. Rooms are ventilated with mosquito nets and there is no air conditioning, televisions or hot water, according to Beachmeter. Electricity is solar and waste is recycled. A French-Ghanaian restaurant operates on site.

Reported activities include swimming, surfing and bodyboarding, hiking, fishing with the lodge's canoe, village visits, mangrove canoe trips and mountainbiking. The surrounding six-hectare site includes a small mangrove that the operator describes as rich in birds and animals, and the operator notes the last primary coastal forest in West Africa is a few minutes away. Turtles and whales are reported on nearby beaches.

Access is by gravel or dirt road from Agona or Takoradi, which Beachmeter notes can be difficult after heavy rain; the operator states the site is about 1.5 hours from Takoradi and 40 minutes from Busua. The nearest ATM is in Agona, so cash is needed. Coordinates are not confirmed in the available sources.
