About Laboum Waterfall
Laboum Waterfall is a multi-tiered waterfall inside Kyabobo National Park in the Oti Region of Ghana, within Nkwanta South Municipality. It has an upper and a lower fall, both fed by the Laboum River. The name appears in several spellings — Laboum, Laboun and Labuom — and the park borders Togo, with Nkwanta the nearest town. Exact coordinates are not recorded in the sources reviewed.
Ghana's tourism authority lists the waterfall among the park's key attractions, which is the clearest indication of its standing for visitors. Reported height figures vary: visitor and tourism social posts repeatedly describe it as roughly 60 m, while official sources state the height less precisely. That figure should be treated as disputed rather than confirmed.
The setting is remote. The park lies roughly 400 km from Accra, public transport is limited, and reaching the area generally requires a hired vehicle from towns such as Nkwanta or Hohoe.
Access to the falls themselves is on foot only. Trails are described as moderate to arduous and are not wheelchair or mobility accessible. Cited hiking times range from about 1 hour 45 minutes to 4 hours depending on the route; one account gives roughly 2.2–2.4 km from Ginger's Farm and Nature Camp.
There is no visitor centre, shop or other amenity documented specifically at the falls. A natural pool at the lower falls is noted as a place where swimming is possible, according to the tourism management plan. Camping is available at Laboum Camp / the Laboum outpost campsite, which has showers and pit toilets; the park headquarters campsite has flush toilets and showers. Meals can be found at chop bars and restaurants in Nkwanta or arranged locally.
For enquiries, a phone number circulated on the park's Facebook page and tourism posts is +233 50 688 4376, attributed to Kyabobo National Park (Ghana Wildlife Division / Forestry Commission). The Forestry Commission head office lists +233 302 401 227.
