Waterfalls in Bono East Region
Bono East is waterfall country. Three falls are gathered here, and each one gives you a different kind of day out. Kintampo Waterfalls is the best known: a three-drop waterfall on the Pumpum River, about 4 km north of Kintampo on the Kumasi–Tamale road, easy to reach and easy to enjoy. Fuller Falls, a multi-step waterfall on the Oyoko River at Yabraso, sits about 7 km west of Kintampo, so the two can be spoken of in the same breath while still feeling like separate outings. Dandwa Waterfall, at Dandwa in the Nkoranza South Municipality, is the wilder one — undeveloped, reached via the Nkoranza–Ejura Highway, and listed with nature and community tourism among its experiences.
What they share is water, rock and green quiet, and the fact that all three reward travellers who are willing to leave the main road for a while. What separates them is character: Kintampo is the accessible three-drop cascade, Fuller is the stepped fall on the Oyoko River, and Dandwa is the undeveloped fall where community tourism shapes the visit. Together they make a gentle, watery trail through the region.

Before you go
Plan around Kintampo, which gives you two of the three falls, and treat Nkoranza as a separate leg. The Kumasi–Tamale road serves Kintampo Waterfalls, while Fuller Falls lies west of Kintampo at Yabraso and Dandwa is reached via the Nkoranza–Ejura Highway. Because Dandwa is undeveloped, ask locally in Nkoranza about current access and guidance before setting out, and check conditions for all three before you travel, as water levels and site arrangements can change. Carry water, wear shoes with grip, and allow generous time between stops.
