About Esiama Beach

Esiama Beach is a beach on the Atlantic coastline at Esiama, also spelled Essiama, a town near Axim in the Nzema East Municipal District of Ghana's Western Region. The settlement sits at roughly 4°55'58"N 2°20'49"W, at an elevation of about 18 metres; those coordinates describe the town rather than a confirmed beach entrance.

The beach is listed among the favourite attractions of the Nzema area by the Nzema tourism directory IamNzema, appearing alongside Nzulezo Stilt Village, Fort Apollonia, Cape Three Points, Dixcove Fishing Village and the Nzema Cultural Centre. That listing is the clearest published signal that the beach is regarded locally as a visitor draw, though it gives no detail about the beach itself.

The Wikipedia article on Essiama states that the town "has some of the best beaches in Ghana which serves as a source of entertainment for incoming tourists and a means of livelihood for local People." The Nzema East Municipality, the public authority for the district containing Esiama, describes the area as rich in tourism attractions, most still undeveloped, and replete with warm sandy beaches providing conventional beach tourism. A 2023 video by the channel SOA TV GH, titled "ESIAMA BEACH, WESTERN REGION OF GHANA (4K)", documents the beach on camera.

What a visitor can reasonably expect is therefore limited to this: an Atlantic-facing sandy beach in a working coastal town, in a district whose own authority characterises its beaches as largely undeveloped. No operator, entrance fee, opening hours, contact details or visitor amenities for the beach were found in any source consulted, and access arrangements are not documented. Anyone planning a visit should treat those practical details as unconfirmed and make their own local enquiries rather than relying on published information.

The wider Western Region coast is noted for its concentration of beaches and for the European trading forts built along it, and Nzema is the local Akan-speaking area. Esiama Beach is best understood as part of that coastal setting rather than as a managed visitor site.
