Why visit
About Brenu Beach
Brenu Beach lies at Brenu Akyinim, a community in the Komenda/Edina/Eguafo/Abrem (KEEA) Municipality of Ghana's Central Region. The Central Regional Coordinating Council lists it among the region's tourist sites, and University of Cape Coast material describes the Brenu beach, on the Cape Coast–Elmina road, as one of the most beautiful in the country. The operator places it roughly 20 km from Cape Coast and a short drive from Elmina Castle and Kakum Rainforest.
The beach's distinguishing feature is how it is run. A 2023 peer-reviewed study of beach resorts in the Central Region notes that the resort at Brenu Akyinim is community-owned, with income used for community development projects. That makes a visit here different in character from a purely commercial resort stop.
What a visitor can reasonably expect is a beach with hospitality attached rather than a fully serviced public facility. Brenu Beach Lodge, the operator on site, lists an on-site restaurant, ocean-view rooms in double, family and honeymoon categories, games, tours and a private beach area, and gives its opening hours as 24/7, Monday to Sunday. No public-beach amenities — lifeguards, changing rooms or public toilets — are documented, and no separate public-beach hours are published.
On cost, travel directories describe free or public beach areas with paid hospitality options nearby, and one directory lists entry to Brenu Akyinim Beach as free. No official published fee schedule was found, so treat any figure as unconfirmed.
Practically, the operator can be reached on +233 244 158 675 or [email protected], with a second number listed as (+233) 54 123 5648. Because road access, swimming conditions and on-the-ground facilities are not documented in official sources, visitors should confirm these locally rather than assume lifeguards or formal facilities.
