About Aboadze Beach

Aboadze Beach is the shoreline of Aboadze, a coastal town in the Shama District of Ghana's Western Region. Aboadze is one of the district's major fishing communities, alongside Shama and Abuesi; together these three communities occupy roughly 7 km of the district's 19 km coastline. The town sits about 20 km from the centre of Takoradi, bordered by Shama to the east, Inchaban to the west and the Atlantic Ocean to the south.

This is a working fishing shore rather than a developed resort. The Shama District Assembly names La Bamba Beach Resort at Amenano and Abuesi Beach Resort at Abuesi among the district's developed beach resorts; Aboadze is not listed among them. The district does, however, record Aboadze among its ten landing beaches, including the sites known as Aboadze–Broni-Bema and Aboadze–Ekuro-Bamu. Aboadze is also an industrial town, hosting the Takoradi Thermal Power Station, which has operated since 1997.

For a visitor, the setting is the point: a coastal fishing community on the district's coastal strip, reached by the Accra–Takoradi trans-national highway, which passes through Shama District. Aboadze falls under the Aboadze Abuesi Area Council. Visitor infrastructure here is minimal, and no entrance fee, opening hours, contact details or formal accessibility provision are documented.

The sea at Aboadze carries a documented drowning hazard. On 8 March 2026, three of a group of eleven young people who had travelled from Abuakwa in the Ashanti Region were swept away by the sea at Aboadze. An 18-year-old woman's body was recovered, one person was rescued alive and treated, and a male victim remained missing. No lifeguard service is documented at this beach.

Because the documented record is thin, plan around what is known rather than assumed. The nearest larger accommodation and dining options are in Takoradi and Shama. Anyone considering entering the water should treat the Atlantic conditions here as unverified and unpatrolled.
