Kpando Torkor Lake Volta Boat Trips

Kpando Torkor is a fishing and ferry landing point on the shore of Lake Volta in Kpando Municipal, Volta Region, and it is the departure point for guided boat trips on the lake. The trips are run by Emo Guide Service, which is linked to the Emo Foundation, an NGO based in Kpando; the guesthouse operation supports the tuition fees of scholarship students. The operator's office is on Kpomedine Street L389, Kpando Tsakpe Newtown, while the boats leave from Torkor itself.

Two main formats are published. A one-hour lake tour stays on the water, while a three-to-four-hour trip visits one of the lake's inhabited islands. The operator also lists "Island Hopping Lake Volta," a boat trip from Kpando Torkor that visits two or three inhabited islands, with walking on the islands and swimming from the shores. Named stops described by the operator include Paradise beach at Gabi Kpo, roughly 30 minutes by boat from Torkor, a fisherman's spot at Tsetsekpo at about 45 minutes, and Adzaboxo at about 60 minutes.

The published price for the boat trip includes the boatman, a guided tour on the islands, fuel and use of life jackets. The operator's boat takes up to 20 passengers and life jackets are aboard. A meal or picnic lunch can be provided, though no price is stated for it. Overnight island stays and camping are also offered, with one tent for two to three people, sleeping mats, a cool box and a torch. Visitors can join a local fisherman at Torkor or Agave to set nets or collect fish.
