Explore Ghana
Bunso sits in Ghana's Eastern Region, and it rewards travellers who like their nature green, shaded and easy to reach. The heart of it is Bunso Eco Park, also known as Bunso Arboretum, a 40-acre forest reserve and botanical garden with over 600 tree species, a canopy walkway and a zipline. It is family friendly, community-run and made for slow wandering, hiking trails and simple recreation under tall trees.
Just along the Accra–Kumasi highway, Linda Dor Rest Stop at Bunso Junction offers something quite different: a long-established restaurant, hotel and 24-hour highway rest stop. Where the park is quiet forest and birdsong, the junction is a busy, practical pause for a meal, a bed or a stretch of the legs.
Together they make Bunso a natural stop rather than a rushed one. Come for the trees, stay for the walkway and the zipline, and let the junction look after the eating and the sleeping.
Good to know
Bunso is easiest to visit as a break on the Accra–Kumasi highway, so build it into a longer journey rather than treating it as a separate trip. The park and the rest stop sit in the same town, which keeps moving between them simple. Before you go, check current opening times, entry arrangements and whether the canopy walkway and zipline are running, as these can change. Wear shoes you don't mind getting muddy, carry water and rain protection, and allow more time than you think for the trails. If you plan to eat or stay at the junction, it is worth confirming availability in advance.
