About Prampram Beach

Prampram Beach is the beachfront of Prampram, also known as Gbugbla, the capital of the Ningo-Prampram District in Ghana's Greater Accra Region. The town sits on the Atlantic (Gulf of Guinea) coast, and the district itself is bordered to the south by the Gulf of Guinea, roughly 15 km east of the port city of Tema. The district assembly lists the scenic Prampram beach among the area's tourism attractions, alongside Fort Prampram, the Sakumo Lagoon Ramsar site and local cultural festivals.

The setting is a long sandy coastline. Prampram, New Ningo and Old Ningo lie within about 10 km of one another on a stretch of coast between Accra and the mouth of the Volta, and the district has a coastline of about 37 km. Prampram is a historic fishing and trading town with Ga-Adangbe (Dangme) heritage, and fishing and fisheries anchor the district economy. Beachfront resorts and pleasure spots operate along the coast, and the community hosts beach-related events, including a beach and cultural festival and a coastal clean-up day.

For a visitor, the beach is best understood as the town's working waterfront rather than a managed attraction. It is a place to see the coast as part of Prampram's everyday life, and it can be combined with the district's other listed sites, such as Fort Prampram and the Sakumo Lagoon Ramsar site. The town's position about 15 minutes' drive from Tema and about 45 minutes from Accra makes it a plausible stop for travellers already moving along this part of the coast.

Practical details are limited. No official operator publishes visitor facilities, entrance fees or opening hours for the beach, so these should be treated as unknown rather than assumed. There is also no unambiguous structured coordinate source for the beach itself; the town of Prampram is commonly given as approximately 5°43'N 0°06'E. Visitors planning a trip should confirm current arrangements locally, since the evidence available does not establish what is provided on site.
