About Shiare Waterfalls
Shiare Waterfalls is a waterfall in Ghana's Oti Region, in Nkwanta South Municipal District, close to the community of Shiare. Shiare is a mountain settlement in the Breast Mountains known as the Hanging Village, and the falls are closely associated with it. Local names recorded for the falls include Tsatsale and Chachale, which in the Akyode language are said to mean "waterfalls." The Ghana Tourism Authority's Oti Region office names them Nyingilin Kyakyale Waterfalls, while a GTA Volta Region page uses Kyakyale Waterfalls.
The falls are described as a source of water for Shiare residents and as a hiking and tourism site. The Ghana Tourism Authority presents them as a community tourism and recreation attraction that complements a visit to the village.
The setting is the Breast Mountains in northern Oti Region, with Nkwanta the closest town. Shiare itself is a farming community of the Akyode people.
Access is on foot. The falls are reached from Shiare village by a trek reported at roughly 30 to 40 minutes over steep, rocky and uneven paths. There is no road access to the falls, and the route from Nkwanta to Shiare is described as difficult and partly under construction. The falls are not reported as wheelchair accessible.
Practical details such as opening hours, entry fees, guiding arrangements and on-site facilities are not established in the available evidence, so visitors should treat them as unknown rather than assume them. The length and terrain of the trek are the main planning facts currently supported.
