About Kintampo Canopy Walkway
The Kintampo Canopy Walkway is a suspended walkway at the Kintampo Waterfalls site in the Kintampo North Municipal District of the Bono East Region. It is an added feature of the waterfalls, built over a valley and spanning two locations, and it is described as the second canopy walk in Ghana after the one at Kakum National Park. It was inaugurated in April 2019 by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo during his visit to the newly created region.

The walkway is reported as a two-line suspended facility measuring 80 by 90 metres and standing about 100 metres above the water level. The Middle Belt Development Authority and the Ghana Tourism Authority describe it as spanning 90 metres and 80 metres at two locations over a valley, with a maximum load of twenty people at a time, each averaging about 100 kilogrammes. It was constructed under a public-private partnership involving a wholly Ghanaian-owned firm, Bonsu Aboritum Kanopy Walkway Limited, the Ghana Tourism Authority, the Kintampo Municipal Assembly and traditional authorities.
The walkway sits within the Kintampo Waterfalls site, which lies on the Pumpum river, a tributary of the Black Volta, about 4 km north of Kintampo on the Kumasi–Tamale road. The site was refurbished with pavilions and summer-huts, mechanised bore-hole water, washrooms, a cafeteria, a museum, rehabilitated staircases, mini-shops selling provisions and traditional artifacts, a lawn zone for events, a spacious car park, an infirmary for first aid, and site guards stationed at the base of the falls. A zip-line over the valley was under construction as of 2019.

The walkway was part of a facelift recommended in a safety audit following a fatal rainstorm at the site on 19 March 2017. Site managers reported that visitation rose from 19,223 for all of 2018 to about 17,000 by half-year 2019 after the walkway opened.
