About Ntonso Adinkra Village
Ntonso Adinkra Village is a cultural craft centre in Ntonso, in the Kwabre East District of Ghana's Ashanti Region, roughly 15 km north of Kumasi. Ghana's national tourism portal, Visit Ghana, describes the village as the homeland of adinkra cloth, as the only place in Ghana where traditional adinkra is made locally from scratch, and as the country's biggest producer of adinkra. It is presented as a craft centre, a cultural site and a community tourism destination.
Adinkra cloth is the printed, symbol-bearing cloth associated with the Ashanti Region. According to the tourism authority's account, it was originally worn only for funerals and produced mainly in black, brown and red. Today it is made in all colours and worn and used throughout Ghana, so the cloth a visitor sees here sits at the meeting point of a funeral tradition and a contemporary national textile.
The village has a visitor centre and offers official guided walking tours. On these tours, visitors can engage with stages of adinkra production, including dye preparation, cloth dyeing, adinkra stamping and embroidery of stamped cloth. That structure is what distinguishes a visit here from simply buying finished cloth elsewhere: the tour is organised around the making process rather than only the product.
The setting is a working town rather than a detached site. Ntonso lies on the Ejura–Kumasi road, and the town's coordinates are given as approximately 6°50′N 1°31′W. The mapped feature coordinates for the attraction itself are about 6.8276, -1.5191, with a business status of operational. Because the town sits close to Kumasi, it is reachable as a short trip from the city, though the exact visitor entrance is not verified.
Practical details are limited. No opening hours, admission fees, tour prices, tour durations, booking arrangements or accessibility information are established by the available sources, and the mapped address lists Kumasi as the parent locality rather than Ntonso. Visitors should treat timings and costs as unconfirmed and check locally before travelling.
