About Ho Airport
Ho Airport (ICAO: DGAH) is a regional airport serving Ho, the capital of the Volta Region in Ghana. It is owned and operated by Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL), the state body responsible for planning, developing, managing and maintaining airports and aerodromes across the country. Construction was completed in 2017, but the airport did not open to commercial traffic until 4 December 2021.
The facility sits in the Ho Municipal area of the Volta Region. It covers roughly 1,500 acres and has a single 1,900 m by 30 m asphalt runway, designated 05/23, along with an aircraft parking area, a terminal building designed to handle at least 150,000 passengers a year, VIP and VVIP facilities, staff parking, and a nine-kilometre network of access roads around the site. Secondary descriptions of the terminal mention a check-in area, security screening, baggage claim and basic passenger amenities, plus a control tower and airfield lighting. No retail, dining, medical or Wi-Fi facilities are documented.
For visitors, the airport's practical significance is as a gateway rather than a destination in itself. GACL states the project is expected to boost the Volta Region's economy and promote tourism there while providing jobs for local people. That ambition has not yet translated into sustained service: Passion Air began commercial Accra–Ho flights on 4 December 2021, but all scheduled flights were suspended in March 2022, citing low patronage and high fuel costs, and Africa World Airlines declined to launch Ho services. Passenger movements were 350 in 2021 and 969 in 2022.
Anyone planning around Ho Airport should therefore verify current flight operations directly with the operator before making arrangements, since the evidence available here documents no active scheduled service. General enquiries can be directed to GACL, which lists [email protected], +233 (0) 302 550 612, and a postal address of KA PMB 36 KIA Accra, Ghana. No airport-specific contact details, opening hours, fees or public transport links are documented.
