About Amanzule River Boat Cruise

Amanzule River Boat Cruise (Bantaka) is a boat and canoe experience on the Amanzule River in the Western Region of Ghana, in the Jomoro Municipality, near the stilt village of Nzulezo. The cruise is associated with the Nzulezo Stilt Village Tourism Project, which describes canoe rides through the Amanzule River and the surrounding Amanzule wetlands — an ecosystem of mangroves, swamps and lagoons.

For visitors, the appeal is the water itself and what travels with it. The operator describes the wetlands as home to more than 100 bird species, naming the African fish eagle, pied kingfisher, African jacana, black-crowned night heron, little bee-eater and white-throated blue swallow among them. The operator's own activity list covers canoe rides, birdwatching tours, walking tours of the stilt village, community interaction, photo opportunities, and studies and research. A separate social media post advertising a boat cruise on the Amanzule River at Bantaka frames the experience around scenery, wildlife spotting, and local culture and history.

The project was established in 2000 to promote eco-tourism while preserving the cultural and environmental heritage of the Nzulezo community, and it employs local guides, boat operators and artisans. Nzulezo is recognised on UNESCO's Tentative List.

Practical planning is where the record is thinnest. The operator places Nzulezo in the Jomoro Municipality, Western Region, roughly a two-hour drive from Takoradi, with Beyin as the access point for the Nzulezo and Amanzule area. No verified coordinates exist for the Bantaka cruise site itself, and no official operator page documents a Bantaka-specific boat cruise. The operator's published contact number is 0244606762. Visitors should treat departure points, timings and arrangements as unconfirmed and check directly before travelling.
