Emo Guesthouse

Emo Guesthouse is a small guesthouse in Kpando Tsakpe Newtown, in the Kpando Municipal District of Ghana's Volta Region. It is operated by the Emo Foundation, an NGO, and profits from the guesthouse help pay tuition fees for the foundation's tertiary-level scholarship students. For visitors, that means a stay here is also a contribution to a local education programme.

The guesthouse sits on Kpomedine Street (L389) in a quiet, residential-feeling part of town. Kpando Market and the town's main transport station are both described as within walking distance; the main station is roughly a kilometre away, with Kpando Technical Institute and Margaret Marquart Catholic Hospital each about two kilometres off. Kpando itself is a busy town near Lake Volta with a long colonial and cultural history.

Six rooms are listed, in three broad types: veranda doubles with a queen bed and outdoor veranda seating, indoor doubles, and family rooms with a queen bed plus either a medium bed or a bunk bed. Veranda doubles are described as having air conditioning, an en-suite private bathroom with hot-water shower and flushing toilet, a television, Wi-Fi, a fridge and orthopaedic mattresses. Room 6 is an exception: its shower is indoors and there is no hot water. Fridges are listed for selected rooms only, so it is worth confirming the specifics of your room when booking.

A basic breakfast is included, with paid upgrades available from a breakfast list. Wizzy's Emo Restaurant operates beside the guesthouse, and the lobby is decorated by local craftsmen. The operator also says it can help arrange excursions to waterfalls, Mount Afadjato, boat trips on Lake Volta, the Tafi monkeys, Avetime hills hiking and the Likpe Todome Caves.
