About Konklobi Island

Konklobi Island is a natural island attraction in Biakoye District, Oti Region, Ghana. The Biakoye District Assembly lists it among the district's roughly four natural tourist sites, alongside Odormittor Beach, Bowiri Abohire Waterfall and Bowiri Aboabo Water Cascades.

The island sits within the district's lakeside and river front area. Local accounts describe it as a forested island — one account uses the phrase "virgin forest" — that can be circled by boat. A community post also refers to it as an island and monkey sanctuary; that description comes from community material rather than an official source, so it should be treated as unconfirmed.

For a visitor, Konklobi Island is best understood as part of the district's wider set of natural sites rather than a finished destination. The district has actively promoted it, including hosting corporate tours there during Tourism Month in September 2023, and the District Chief Executive received a Ghana Tourism Authority honorary award in September 2024 that cited the island.

As of 2022–2024, published accounts describe Konklobi Island as undeveloped or a potential tourist site. The district publicly sought investors to develop it, and the DCE courted Kenyan investment interest in the island. That context explains why the site appears in tourism listings while remaining largely unbuilt.

Published sources do not record opening hours, entry fees, boat operators, guides, or visitor facilities for the island. Anyone planning a visit should treat it as an undeveloped site and expect to make arrangements through local contacts in the district.
