Why visit

About Ho Municipal Assembly

Ho Municipal Assembly is the administrative assembly of Ho Municipal District in the Volta Region of Ghana, and its offices are in Ho, the regional capital. For visitors, it is best understood as a civic and administrative point of reference rather than an attraction: the assembly is the local government body for the district, and its offices are the place to go for municipal services and official enquiries.

The district has been reshaped more than once. It was created as an ordinary district assembly on 10 March 1989 as Ho District. On 13 August 2004 the southern part was split off to create Adaklu-Anyigbe District, and on 28 June 2012 the western part was split off to create Ho West District. The remainder was elevated to municipal status as Ho Municipal Assembly under Legislative Instrument (L.I.) 2074.

The municipality lies in the central part of the Volta Region, with Ho as its capital town — also the administrative capital of the Volta Region. It shares boundaries with the Republic of Togo to the east, Ho West District to the west, Hohoe Municipality to the north and Agotime-Ziope District to the south. The 2021 census recorded a population of 180,420, comprising 84,843 males and 95,577 females.

Practical contact details are published by the assembly: P.O. Box 47, Ho, with digital address VH-0523-0520, telephone 0362001261 (an alternative number, +233 36 202 8300, also appears), email [email protected] and website hma.gov.gh. Directory listings give office hours of Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, closed at weekends; the official website does not publish opening hours, so confirm before travelling.

Note that the assembly's exact office coordinates are unresolved. The coordinates associated with the district feature are not the visitor entrance, and no verified office coordinates are available here. Visitors should rely on the published postal and digital addresses when planning a visit.
