Why visit
About Central Tongu District Assembly
Central Tongu District Assembly is the local government authority for Central Tongu District, one of the eighteen districts in the Volta Region of Ghana. Its administrative capital is Adidome, in the southwest part of the region. For visitors, the assembly is best understood as an administrative point of contact rather than an attraction: it is the body that holds district-level information and handles public enquiries.
The district has a layered history. It was first created as an ordinary district assembly on 10 March 1989 under the name North Tongu District, originally established as Adidome District, formed from the former Tongu District Council. On 28 June 2012 the western part was split off to create a new North Tongu District with Battor Dugame as its capital, and the remaining area was renamed Central Tongu District with Adidome as capital.
The district covers 677.4 square kilometres and had a population of 83,803 at the 2021 census. It is bordered to the north by the Adaklu and Agotime Ziope districts, to the east by Akatsi South District, to the south by South Tongu District, and to the west by the North Tongu and Ho West districts.
The assembly office is listed at Adidome, with a digital address of VV-0335-1881. Published contact details are the website www.ctda.gov.gh, the email [email protected], and the phone number +233 0533743693. Published opening hours are Mondays to Fridays, 8:00am to 5:00pm. The Local Government Service lists Adidome as the district capital and www.ctda.gov.gh as the published website for public enquiries.
Practical planning notes: the assembly is a working government office, so enquiries are best directed through the published website, email, or phone before travelling. The office coordinates recorded here are a verified match for the assembly building in the Mafi - Adidome locality, not a visitor entrance or a tourism facility. No visitor amenities, tours, fees, or guided experiences are documented in the available sources, so travellers should not expect them.
