About Anloga District Assembly

Anloga District Assembly is the local government authority for Anloga District in the Volta Region of Ghana, with Anloga as its administrative capital. The assembly is now styled Anloga Municipal Assembly, and its own website describes the district as lying in the southeast of the Volta Region — "a land of history, vibrant lagoon life, and immense agricultural potential." For visitors, its practical value is as an official point of reference: the assembly publishes tourism and cultural pages alongside news on community development projects, and it lists the Hogbetsotso Za festival as an event in Anloga.

The district was carved out of Keta District and established by Legislative Instrument (L.I.) 2372 of 2018, one of six newly created assemblies, and was inaugurated on 19 February 2019. Anloga itself is described as the spiritual, cultural and traditional capital of the Anlo Kingdom. The main ethnic group is the Anlo Ewe, led by the Awormefia of Anlo, Togbui Sri III.

The assembly works through seven area councils: Anloga (the capital), Tegbi, Woe, Whuti-Srogboe, Anyanui, Alakple and Dzita. These names are useful orientation for anyone planning to move around the district, since they indicate the administrative subdivisions the assembly covers.

Its website also carries service pages for a development permit, a business operating permit, marriage registration and citizens feedback. Visitors with an administrative or civic purpose — rather than a leisure one — can reasonably expect these to be the relevant starting points, though the site does not state opening hours, counter procedures or fees.

The assembly is a member of the Open Government Partnership (OGP) Local. Contact details published by the assembly are P.O. Box AW 36, Anloga, Volta Region, Ghana; telephone +233 59 311 7717; email [email protected]; website anda.gov.gh. The assembly also maintains a Facebook page. The published coordinates for Anloga District are approximate feature coordinates and do not necessarily mark the assembly office entrance, so confirm the office location directly before travelling.
