About Holuta Abuate Waterfall

Holuta Abuate Waterfall is a waterfall at Holuta, a border town in the Ho West District of Ghana's Volta Region. It appears in listings of the region's waterfalls, including GhanaWeb's round-up of Volta Region falls, where it is recorded as "Holuta Abuate Waterfall, Ho West District." The name is written in several ways in available sources — Holuta, Abuate, Abuete and Aboete all appear — so visitors may see any of these spellings in local references.

The falls are described as a community tourism and nature site. Gosa GH, which reported on the waterfall in 2023, states that the flow is uninterrupted regardless of season and treats this as the site's distinguishing feature. The same report says the waterfall was discovered a few years before that account, and that traditional leaders have appealed for the site to be developed.

Access is on foot from the community. A Gosa GH TV documentary filmed in February 2023 records the walk from the community to the waterfall as taking about ten minutes, and notes that traditional leaders performed a ritual before the team approached the falls. Community members cited the poor road network as a major factor limiting visitor numbers, while Gosa GH also reports large numbers of visitors during Easter celebrations.

Practical information is limited. No official operator page, published entrance fee, opening hours or contact details were found, and there is no verified information on paved paths, wheelchair access or whether a guide is required. Visitors should treat these as unknown rather than assume facilities exist.

Development has been discussed at district level: the Ho West District Chief Executive, Mr Ernest Apau, announced at community engagements at Holuta-Gborgame and Kpoeta-Achanti that government had initiated plans to develop the Aboete waterfalls at Holuta, alongside the Tiga waterfall at Kpoeta-Achanti, to promote tourism in the Volta Region. Coordinates recorded for the site place it near 6.8706, 0.5233.
